Google Celebrates Vikram Sarabhai’s 100th Birth Anniversary With A Doodle. Vikram Sarabhai, father of the Indian Space Program and Indian physicist, was born on August 12, 1919.

Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai was an Indian scientist and researcher, most commonly known as the father of the “Indian Space Program”. Scientist Vikram Sarabhai also received the Shanti Roop Bhatnagar Medal in 1962. He was honored by the country with Padma Bhushan in 1966 and Padma Vibhushan in 1972.

Vikram Sarabhai was born on August 12, 1919 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. Sarabhai’s family was very important in his life and Vikram Sarabhai belonged to a wealthy businessman family. His father Ambalal Sarabhai was a prosperous businessman who had many mills in Gujarat.

Vikram was one of the 8 children of Sarabhai, Ambalal and Sarala Devi. Sarala Devi established a private school as per Montessori practice to teach her 8 children. Which was introduced by Maria Montessori. His school later gained considerable fame.

Sarabhai’s family members used to come to Sarabhai’s house as Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Motilal Nehru and Jawaharlal Nehru were involved in the Indian independence campaign. All of these fighters had a great influence on young Vikram Sarabhai’s life at the time and also helped in the development of Sarabhai’s personal life.

Vikram Sarabhai completed his matriculation from Gujarat College of Ahmedabad after passing the intermediate science examination. He then moved to England and studied at St John’s College, Cambridge, Cambridge University.

Sarabhai was also awarded a Tripos in 1940 for his contribution to the natural sciences (at Cambridge). Later, due to the rise of World War II, Sarabhai returned to India and joined the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore and Sir C.V. Under the guidance of Raman (Nobel Laureate), research on space rays began.

After the end of the war he returned to Cambridge University and was awarded a PhD in 1947 because of his thesis on space latitude, tropical latitude and exploration.

In September 1942, Vikram Sarabhai – Vikram Sarabhai was married to the famous classical dancer Mrinali Sarabhai. Their wedding was held in Chennai as there was no attendance from Vikram’s family. Because Mahatma Gandhi’s Quit India Movement was at its peak.

Vikram’s family was also involved. Vikram and Mrinalini have two children – Karthikeya Sarabhai and Mallika Sarabhai. Mallika Sarabhai is a famous dancer who has been awarded the Palme d’Or Award.

After moving to England, Vikram returned to independent India in 1947. And as India began to see the needs of the country, he also started running social institutions established by his family. Created a research institute near Ahmedabad.

On 11 November 1947 he established the Physical Investigation Laboratory. He was only 28 years old at the time. He was the principal contributor to his research laboratory.

Dr. Vikram Sarabhai passed away on December 30, 1971, in Kovalam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He traveled to Thiruvananthapuram to participate in a program organized at Thumba Railway Station.

In his last days, he was in a lot of trouble. In the last days, his health had deteriorated due to more travel and workloads. And this cause is also said to be the cause of his death.

1. Sarabhai returned to India when India gained independence. He noted the need to develop scientific facilities in India. With this in mind, he helped many social organizations established by his family and in 1947 established a physical research laboratory in Ahmedabad.

2. Vikram Sarabhai was a whirlwind scientist. He was also the founder of PRL, under whose guidance many experiments related to celestial rays were carried out in his laboratory. And under his guidance, his institutes performed many successful experiments, such as space science and space rays.

3. Sarabhai was the founding president of IIM, Ahmedabad (Institute of Management). Together with his second businessman, Kasturbhai Lalbhai, he did many developmental works in the field of education in 1961.

4. He is an enthusiastic contributor to the establishment of the Natural Planning and Technology University (CEPT University) in Ahmedabad in 1962. Which provided a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in architecture, planning and planning.

5. In 1965, he founded the Nehru Development Institute (NFD). Its main focus was to develop education and social sector in the country.

6. During the 1960s, he set a record. Sarabhai Community Science Center (VASCSC) was set up so that they can increase people’s interest in science and mathematics and educate students. The main objective of this institute was to increase the interest of the people towards science in the country.

7. The establishment of the Indian Space Research Institute (ISRO) is one of his great achievements. After the launch of Russia’s Sputnik, he successfully explained to the government the need for a space program for a developing country like India.

For establishing India’s first rocket launching center, Dr. Bhabha said. Sarabhai cooperated. For this center the village of Thumba was rained near the city of Thiruvananthapuram on the banks of the Arabian Sea in Kerala. The main reason for choosing it is due to its proximity to the equator. India’s first rocket was fired on sodium vapor payload on November 2, 9, after their great effort. As a result of the dialogues with NASA, the US space agency, satellite operated television began experimentally on July 7-8.

8. His biggest and most significant contribution to India has been the establishment of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in 1969. The main objective of this institute was to increase the use of science and serve the country.
